Though a supporter of Ecology Action and the larger environmental movement, folksinger Pete Seeger arrived at a harsh judgment of “The Declaration of Interdependence”: it was “long-winded and boring.”

Seeger acknowledged that “Perhaps the writer was trying to be too faithful to the original,” then added, wittily, “Perhaps he was not faithful enough to better writing in the original.” He advised that the declaration itself should be “done over again”—more succinctly.
