This short piece in Tradeswomen Magazine—the rare publication completely written by blue-collar women—reports on the handling of a boycott against Ollie’s of Oakland. When blue-collar women organized a boycott in response to “incidents of racist and anti-worker treatment” that had occurred over a period of three years, Pacific Center took on a role as a mediator, facilitating dialogue between the two parties about improving conditions for workers.
Ollie’s had long been associated with Pacific Center, having hosted gay proms and other various entertainment events.
