Mirage published a response to The Berkeley Barb profile of Angela Douglas to rectify certain inaccuracies stated against Douglas, which can be found here. These inaccuracies, according to Mirage all relate to the stance of the article in tarnishing Mirage’s reputation, which makes sense considering a clear transphobic bias in the article. It’s interesting that, while Mirage fights against the clear bias in the Barb piece, they do not claim that any of the story regarding Beth Elliott or Douglas’ stance regarding the mission of post-operative trans people is false. Angela’s character comes through here, saving the reputation of her publication but not seeing any fault in the actions described in the Barb. As for the articles she mentions were commissioned by The Barb between 1971-1972, this is likely one of them.
