While there was no mention of trans people in the 1979 Pacific Center newsletter, the Golden Gate Girls/Guys, a San Francisco-based trans organization, advertised the services available in Berkeley.
Trans people had to carve community themselves and advertise it to one another without aid from the gay or lesbian communities which take up all the space in The Bay Area Reporter or the Pacific Center newsletter. The Golden Gate Girls/Guys not only promoted the Pacific Center they made sure that their readership and members could attend meetings with both organizations, acknowledging the importance of multiple trans spaces. Additionally, they note the Center’s location as a meeting space for the trans people throughout a significant span of Northern California.
