Organization against the policies of urban renewal began much earlier than the 1970’s. This poster dates to 1956, when the “Special Industrial Zone” in West Berkeley was first declared. Protesters saw the writing on the wall for industrial expansion, and their suspicions came true seven years later when the West Berkeley Industrial Park plan was introduced.
