This report was sent out in order to make the members of the  Advisory Board aware of their different responsibilities. Their duties were twofold: 1) “monitor the day-to-day operation of the program [the PDSP] and to keep the Vice Chancellor informed of its progress, and 2) the board is responsible for making sure that the university is in compliance with the 504 legislation, it is also required to make policy recommendations to the administration. Historically, the Board has included students, faculty, and other specialists (such as counselors or specialists in architectural design). The Board members have always included people who are the disabled party, or who work in close proximity to disabled people and can look at various issues through the perspective of a disabled person; this makes them effective at predicting their needs.
