This postcard provides information about the Berkeley Free Church’s crash pad program with the intention of attracting more Berkeley residents to sign up to offer their “pads” for the flocks of young folks making their way to the streets of Berkeley. According to the Free Church, over 7000 people had been housed in a year of the program.
Hosts had the option to choose what kind of people they preferred to be sent to them through the program. Perhaps these options fed into the prevalence of sexual exploitation within the crash pad scene, as hosts could opt only to house young women and manipulate the system. (EDIT)
