“The neck was very long so you could fold it or roll it and make it neat and tidy. Or, you could line it or have it unlined. Or you could open it up and it would cover your head when you were in your open Porsche in the fog.”

This description of the San Francisco Fog Suit by Jeanne Rose herself captures the glamour of this simple piece. Though she preferred designing menswear, her original design for a dress with an elongated neck piece, as described above, was very popular. Though the dress could be made lined or unlined, with or without sleeves, it was made with 100% homespun cotton, as Jeanne worked almost strictly in natural fibers. The above photograph, taken in 1966, shows Jeanne wearing a white long-sleeved fog suit with fishnet stockings.
