In this open letter from Joseph Brewer, Pacific Center’s Executive Director, to the commissioners who administered the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA), he discussed in detail how he was mocked and dismissed at a public meeting on April 14, 1977.
Brewer underscored the irony surrounding the prejudice he faced at that meeting: CETA was not funding Pacific Center because it denied that queer people, as sexual minorities, faced discrimination in employment — and here they were, enacting the very discrimination that they denied.
