In this photo, three young men lean against the rusted old truck which they used to haul litter and recyclables collected from a park. They had dumped the litter on the ground at an ecology fair at Diablo Valley College, in an action meant to dramatize society’s disrespect of nature and the need for change.

It’s possible—if not likely—that these three DVC students were inspired by, or affiliated with, Ecology Action, as this photograph was found within the organization’s archive.

On the back of the photograph is the following description of the circumstances around the event: “DVC students picked up a truckload of litter at Briones park. Dumped it ceremoniously in college patio at Ecology Fair May 6.”
