In June of 1972 Rainbow Sign held its first Summer Art Sale, something that would become an annual event for the club. The sale featured works by 75 Bay Area Black Artists and included “Paintings, Prints, Sculptures, Jewelry, Ceramics, Textiles, Weavings, Cards etc.” Mary Ann Pollar and Rainbow Sign made it easy for the community to support Black artists by offering works in every price range and creating a place for those same artists to network with each other.
