In this article, Thomas fires back against his alleged lapses as a business manager for the district, arguing that the school board made no effort to limit the overspending of administrators, even the superintendent running over his budget by $68,000 the previous year, and that there were too many individual program budgets for him to keep track of. Thomas also contended that the movement of money between programs in order to play employees saved the district an encounter with the Industrial Relations Board, which would have occurred if the district failed to pay its employees.
