Mary Ann is situated at the center of a living room with another friend in a wheelchair off to the right side. Mary Ann has a 35mm camera mounted to her wheelchair so the camera is just below eye level.  The frame is blurred slightly, suggesting that she may have just taken or preparing to take a photo herself. The large, open space allows for two people in wheelchairs to comfortably hang out and express themselves through movement if the timing is right. In Design for Independent Living, Mary Ann reported her affinity to dance, or “motor play”, at home with friends.
